Frequently Asked Questions
-
Q: Do you work with people in any state?
-
A: No. By law, we can only provide services to individuals, couples, or groups in California.
-
Q: Do you work with all minors?
-
A: Currently, we only work with teens (14 and up), TAY youth and adults
-
Q: Do you only work with married couples & families?
-
A: No. Although we are a Marriage and Family Therapy Co., we primarily work with individuals even though specific clinicians are capable of working with this population, based on licensure. However, in the near future, we are hoping to work with couples. "Marriage and Family Therapy" is the type of license that the founder has obtained.
-
Q: Do you take insurance?
-
A: No. We are a private pay practice, which means that clients are responsible for payment immediately following a session. However, we can provide you with a superbill at your request for you to submit to your medical provider for potential reimbursement.
-
Q: How do I make an appointment with you?
-
A: You can book a consultation appointment with us by clicking on the services tab at the top of our page, and following the directions from there.
-
Q: How long are typical sessions?
-
A: Sessions are typically 50 minutes in length. However, we also provide clients with the option to have 30 minute sessions, or 75 minute sessions, depending on what you are looking for and can afford.
-
Q: How does payment work?
-
A: All payment information will be requested of you in your intake paperwork, which will be sent to your secure client portal through an app called Simplepractice once we determine that you are a good fit with us.
-
Q: Do you take on anybody who requests your services?
-
A: No. Reason being is that we want to ensure that our areas of expertise match what the client is looking for. It would be unethical for us to take on any & every client that requests our services. That is why the 30 minute consultation is so crucial before proceeding with treatment.
-
Q: What is a client portal?
-
A: Each client will be assigned a client portal through Simplepractice that only the client and clinician have access to. In your client portal, you will receive documents such as, but not limited to, limits of confidentiality, cancellation policies, session date & times, etc.
-
Q: How long should I be in therapy?
-
A: Each client's timeline for being in therapy is a case by case basis. Termination from therapy can be discussed once client & therapist feel as though all goals have been met, if client believes they are ready to move on from therapy, or if client believes that therapy isn't for them any longer.
-
Q: Do I need a computer to have sessions, or can I have my sessions via phone call, or text?
-
A: We do not provide services via phone or text. Therefore, you will need a computer with video & sound access in order to participate in sessions.
-
Q: What platform do we have our sessions on?
-
A: Each clinician will send a Google Meet link to the email provided, and sessions will be held on Google Meet. If you are having trouble accessing the link, your clinician or our admin team can assist you in setting it up prior to your session.
-
Q: Can our calls be hacked by others?
-
A: Unfortunately, there is not a 100% certainty that every telehealth call is secure. However, we use Simplepractice and Google Meet because both are HIPPA compliant, which means that these 2 platforms are as secure as it gets when it comes to your care & your sessions.
